  • Assesses students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment.
  • Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance personnel, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, pre-referral staffing, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff.
  • Develops plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Instruct eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication disorders in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Interprets medical reports within the scope of Speech/Language Pathologist’s experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that intervention plans are appropriate.
  • Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billing information, individual education plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, ETR/IEP meetings, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning building(s)/district.
  • Performs site visits at multiple work sites including home visits for the purpose of providing therapy and assistance as required. Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. activity logs, correspondence, memos, individual education plans, Medicaid billings, reports, required documentation, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Provides speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success.

Brief Description of Duties:
Empower Behavioral Health & Intervention is looking for a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist to work at our facility in NW Columbus, Ohio. This position is 50% center based and 50% outpatient clients. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm
One of the most common characteristics of a child on the autism spectrum is difficulty communicating. Therefore, a speech language pathologist is a necessary and vital part of the evaluation and treatment team for many families living with Autism. The speech pathology department at Empower is comprised of speech pathologists who are dedicated to providing evidence-based services for children with communication disabilities. This position pathologist provides evaluations and interventions for receptive and expressive language, as well as pragmatic language/social skills, play skills, articulation, fluency, voice, oral motor skills and eating/feeding skills deficits. Speech therapy sessions are conducted in a one-on-one setting, in the classroom, or in collaboration with other Empower staff such as occupational therapists, behavior analysts, and social workers.

The opportunity will begin on or around January 27, 2022 and will end on April 29, 2022. Caseload is 44 IEPs for Preschool-2nd grade and 5-minute intervention services for 10 additional students. Pay of $50/hr. includes direct & indirect services, 7.5 hours paid per day. One week off for Spring Break, plus three other set days and one teacher workday. ***$1,000 bonus at completion of this placement***
